*** SPECIAL FEATURE - January'13 ***

Cate Beauman :: Author Bio

I currently live in Tennessee with my husband, two boys, and our St. Bernard, Bear.  I work with pre-school aged children and write novels in my spare time (whatever that is!).

I never planned on being a writer. In fact, it never made a blip on my screen of aspirations.  Writing just sort of happened.  I’m a big believer in destiny, fate, kismet—whatever you want to call it—and I’m certain story telling is mine.  A seven-week stint at ‘the job from hell’ helped me see the light, so to speak.  One day, I picked up a pad of paper and scribbled down my ideas.  The next thing I knew, I’d actually written a novel!  Two years later, I’m happily working on the fourth book in my best selling series, The Bodyguards of L.A. County.

Her Books

Morgan Taylor, D.C. socialite and wildlife biologist, leads a charmed life until everything changes with a phone call. Her research team has been found dead—slaughtered—in backcountry Montana.

As the case grows cold, Morgan is determined to unravel the mystery behind her friends’ gruesome deaths. Despite the dangers of a murderer still free, nothing will stand in her way, not even the bodyguard her father hires, L.A.’s top close protection agent, Hunter Phillips.

Sparks fly from the start when no-nonsense Hunter clashes with Morgan’s strong-willed independence. Their endless search for answers proves hopeless—until Hunter discovers the truth.

On the run and at the mercy of a madman, Morgan and Hunter must outsmart a killer to save their own lives.

Widow Sarah Johnson struggled to pick up the pieces after her life was ripped apart.  After two years of grieving, she’s found contentment in her thriving business as photographer to Hollywood’s A-list and in raising her angel-faced daughter, Kylee… until bodyguard and long-time friend Ethan Cooke changes everything with a searing moonlight kiss.

Sarah’s world turns upside down as she struggles with her unexpected attraction to Ethan and the guilt of betraying her husband’s memory.  But when blue roses and disturbing notes start appearing on her doorstep, she has no choice but to lean on Ethan as he fights to save her from a stalker that won’t stop until he has what he prizes most.

Hailey Roberts has never had it easy. Despite the scars of a tragic childhood, she’s made a life for herself. As a part-time student and loving nanny, she yearns for a family of her own and reluctant Austin Casey, Ethan Cooke Security’s best close protection agent.
Hailey’s past comes back to haunt her when her long lost brother tracks her down, bringing his dangerous secrets with him. At an emotional crossroads, Hailey accepts a humanitarian opportunity that throws her together with Austin, taking her hundreds of miles from her troubles, or so she thinks.
What starts out as a dream come true quickly becomes a nightmare as violence erupts on the island of Cozumel. Young women are disappearing, community members are dying—and the carnage links back to her brother.
As Austin struggles to keep Hailey’s past from destroying her future, he’s forced to make a decision that could turn her against him, or worse cost them both their lives.

  1. my question would be where does she get her inspiration for writing such stories?

    1. Great question! I'll definitely be covering that in my spotlight with Debdatta next week. Basically, I'm a Crime TV junky. When I actually have time to sit down and watch television, I usually tune into one of several crime investigative shows (with a pad of paper and pen in-hand!). All it takes is one intriguing 'bad guy' or victim and my imagination starts churning!

  2. Cate, will you be visiting L.A. any time soon? I was just there. So many memories, old and new! It was exciting going from 110 to Hwy 5 through those old tunnels I remembered so well

    1. I'm thinking not, Rachelle! As much as I would LOVE to visit the city that inspires my novels, I don't see it happening in the near future! This next summer is already booked with a visit to Chicago and Florida. Maybe 2014!

  4. They all look really good. What was a favorite quote from any of the books that you had written, that stayed with you long after you had finished writing it? Hope you have a lot of success with them.

  5. Well, hey there!
I'm sorry I'm just responding. I think one of my favorite moments in Falling for Sarah is when Ethan and Sarah are struggling with their feelings for one another after they've kissed and Sarah tries to tell Ethan it can't happen again. "You tell me that what I felt, that what we made each other feel was a figment of my imagination and we'll end this right now."

Ethan's such a cutie and Sarah wants him, but she just can't get over her guilt of feeling as if she's betraying her deceased husband.

    Thank you for your question!

  6. Daytime street dancing and nighttime Mr Sanchos Cozumel parades take place on Thursday and Saturday. Monday, however, has the best parade and dancing!Being an island, Cozumel is very safe. It is safe to walk the streets downtown, even late at night.
