Meet Natalie Morrigan & Enzi Morrigan from Extant by Sarah Newland - #YoungAdult #SciFI

Every family has secrets and Natalie Morrigan was used to being kept in the dark. But when her childhood home is destroyed following the mysterious disappearance of her parents, Natalie soon discovers her secrets are darker than most. With nowhere else to turn, Natalie and her four lifelong friends seek out their estranged Uncle for guidance and he cannot wait to tell her the truth: her entire life has been a lie.

Genetically adapted with a power that will change the world, Natalie is hunted by Nautilus, an organization that claims it will use her power to achieve an everlasting peace. But if Natalie has learned anything, it’s that things aren’t always what they seem.

Meet Natalie Morrigan & Enzi Morrigan

If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?

NM: I’d check out a book from the closest library and tack somewhere with clear skies and warm beaches. I haven’t read anything for fun since the bombing in my hometown, and it would be nice to actually enjoy a beach for once.
EM: Breakfast with Natalie. Fetch with Natalie. Lunch with Natalie. Patrol the neighborhood for climbing squirrels with Natalie. Or digging squirrels. Or just…just squirrels…

If you could spend the day with someone you admire (living or dead or imaginary), who would you pick?

NM: My dog Enzi, of course. His endless optimism and a nose for snacks keep me looking on the brighter side of life, not to mention he’s the best snuggler around.
EM: Natalie. She’s great. She knows where all the treats are and she can open them because she has thumbs.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? And, what is your current state of mind?

NM: Before the bombing, I might have said it’s a comfy chair and a good book, but now I know perfect happiness is having your family by your side. Currently, I’m a little out of sorts if I’m being honest. I’m trying to put on a brave face for my friends, but I’m desperate to find my family. I’ll do whatever it takes to bring them home.
EM: Isn’t every day perfect happiness? We have food and we have nights together by the fire. We may not stay in the same house for long, but that just means there’s more to explore! And right now? I’m thinking it’s been at least forever since I last chased those sand crabs back into their ground-homes.

What do you consider to be the most overrated virtue and why?

NM: I might consider the most overrated virtue to be patience. You can’t always wait for things to go your way; sometimes you have to take a leap of fate.
EM: Humility! Why not celebrate the fact we are awesome? I am awesome. You are awesome. Let’s go catch some squirrels.

Tell us 3 things about yourself that the readers do not know about.

NM:
I can ramble my way through a few different languages, including Spanish and French, and I have a passion for Latin.
I absolutely love fishing, but more for the nostalgia of time spent with my Uncle and father than the actual sport.
Though I find comfort in the familiar and classifying the discovery of my power as a ‘surprise’ would be the understatement of the year, I’m secretly a little relieved. How boring would it be to live in a world with no questions left to answer? However, I didn’t want to have to question everything…

EM:
I’m adopted. Really though, Natalie’s parents found me in a shelter.
I’m not a great swimmer. You’d think with all the tacking and Ancora’s by the ocean I’d be pretty good, but my fur gets so heavy when it’s wet.
Don’t tell Natalie, but I can get into the treats even without thumbs. Shh. Our secret.
