Adith hasn’t completely got over Roja after she dumped him six years ago. Meeting her again, with a child in tow, is a shock. At the same time, he needs to shield his emotions, though the sizzling attraction once again flaring between them, leaves him with no choice, but to claim this woman with body and mind.

Roja knows she did wrong to leave Adith without an explanation, but atoning for the past isn’t an option she can take. She has a child to consider and her own fears which warn her against going down the same road again. She had been hurt once and doubt is a constant companion. But in Adith’s arms, the past and present merge, while passion overtakes reason.

‘There is too much in our past, Adith.’ She shook her head. ‘You would never be able to forgive me and as for understanding...if I had any hope, don’t you think I would have tried?’

To her surprise, he stayed quiet. He didn’t argue that she should have tried. Then she realized he was so set on the next step he was going to bide his time. Like a patient jaguar. She saw it in his eyes, eyes that had always fascinated her. Brown and grey, intense or light depending on his mood and they showed varied shades now.

‘Just as friends,’ he said easily. She knew it was all on surface. Beneath the superficial, he had every intention of going into her deepest reasons…

He smiled and she decided she had been paranoid. Overthinking. Overfretting. She was a mother now. The habit was ingrained. Everything had to be weighed to the minutest pros and cons.

‘Not dinner,’ she said. ‘I have to attend a charity do. I can’t do two dinners in one week. I try to be there to put Sarv to bed most nights.’

‘Coffee then,’ he said immediately. Then as she still hesitated, ‘Come on, Roja. If not for now, for old times’ sake. We deserve to recapture some of those times. We did have fun, didn’t we?’ His voice dropped persuasively. Her heart beat out a fast rhythm and she had a feeling of stepping out into space.
