Hers To Have But Not To Hold by Summerita Rhayne

Injured, scarred, and emotionally vulnerable, Penny is done with dating. She’s determined to focus entirely on her legal career at Milan’s top firm—until she meets her irresistible new boss. Lazzaro is brilliant, commanding, and completely off-limits. Secret longing is safe, but when one dangerous night shifts the balance of power, the sudden blaze of passion threatens to consume them both.

For Lazzaro, caught up in the first real feelings he’s had in years, the automatic response is a motion to dismiss. Disillusioned by a bitter divorce, he isn’t looking for an emotional involvement. He only wanted a temporary distraction. But with Penny, raw desire threatens to overrule every strict boundary he’s determined to enforce.

Workplace conduct codes fly out the window. Boundaries shatter at the office. But when billions are at stake, letting down their guard could cost them everything. They must rule their emotions—or let the multi-million-dollar deals they’ve bled for go up in flames.

Hers To Have is a steamy, standalone boss-employee workplace romance set in Milan. It features a grumpy Italian billionaire lawyer, high heat, intense chemistry, and a guaranteed HEA with no cliffhangers.

“The way he talked to you was objectionable. And trying to get to you in the office even more so. Do you really like him? If it’s a casual fling you want –”

“Lazzaro, please, you need not feel concerned about me. I’m fine. Maybe Luc shouldn’t have behaved that way, but he’s apologized and he’s an – an interesting man,” she said, wildly grabbing at any straw to keep him from guessing her inner turmoil.

“Interesting? Is that a polite way of saying you are attracted to him? Or are you just covering for him so I don’t take any action against him?”

“All right,” she snapped, pain and anguish making her lose hold on her control. “I don’t care a fig for Luc D’Evreux and I’m not dating him. So you can rest easy. I’m grateful for the concern, but if that’s all you wanted to talk –”

“Concern? Is that what you think it is?”

The imperative demand had her head tilting up to look at him. The deeply angry gaze held something she couldn’t name. All she knew was the familiar rush of sensation was all over her body.

“I don’t care what the hell way D’Evreux has of justifying what he was doing. I’ve talked to him and he will stay in the right lane, if he knows what’s good for him. I just want to know you’d have nothing to do with him,” he said roughly, moving closer to her which in the confined space meant she was aware of him in every fiber of her being, since only few millimeters separated them. She was afraid to breathe in case it brought her in contact with him.

His voice became low, vibrating through her body. “And not just him. With anybody at all.”

“Lazzaro…”

“I want what we had, Penny,” he said, the words falling on her with thunderous force, leaving her feeling ravaged and undone. “That night. More of it. All of it. You felt it. I want to know the silk of your skin, the taste…” He bent near, his mouth against her ear, his breath hot, evoking aching thrills chasing each other over her nerve endings.
