*** Special Feature - October 2017 ***

About the Author:

Dr. Vineet Aggarwal is described by many as a doctor by qualification, manager by profession and artist by temperament. Born in a family of doctors, he successfully completed an initial stint with the family occupation before deciding to venture into pharmaceutical management and currently pursues writing and photography as a passion. He is the author of two popular online blogs as well as three books n the mytho-fiction genre.

Dr. Aggarwal’s literary repertoire extends from politics to poetry and travel to terrorism but his favourite genre remains the amalgamation of science and mythology. Accordingly, his most widely-read blog isDecode Hindu Mythology’ - which has clocked more than two million views from all over the globe. It is a blog to decode and decipher the myths and legends of ancient mythologies with a focus on Indian belief systems, comparing them with other world mythologies as well as relevant scientific principles.

The blog, FraternityAgainst Terrorism & Extremism’ - deals with the events happening in our world with a focus on those that have the potential to cause strife and imbalance in the Indian society. Perhaps more than ever, there is a dire need to understand the real cause behind incidents that leave a mark on our collective psyche and this blog serves to do the same.

Like his blogs, Dr. Vineet’s books are an amalgamation of science and mythology and an attempt at recreating the stories of the past in a modern and relatable way for today’s audience. These aren’t preachy religious books, nor scholarly thesis on spirituality; they are neither completely fiction nor entirely based on reality. Yet, they hold an important message, for they bring to life the stories of ordinary humans, who rose above the confines of physical and mental boundaries to fight the fates and take charge of their destiny. His first book Vishwamitra has already been translated into Marathi and Hindi and work is on to make the other books also available in Indic languages.

In his own words, he is a story teller, one that seeks to redefine the way the ancient stories of India are narrated. The protagonists of his books do not confine themselves to use of mystical spells and paranormal activity but also utilize science and technology to achieve their wondrous feats. Their stories are the sagas of people who are mentioned more in passing rather than have whole narratives woven around them. They help the reader explore these so called side-characters in more detail, making them relevant to a modern audience while staying true to the original Puranik plotlines.

We hope you enjoy reading Dr. Aggarwal’s work.

Dr. Vineet Aggarwal’s books are:

‘Vishwamitra – the Man who dared to challenge the Gods’

When Satyavati, wife of Rishi Ruchik, exchanges with her mother the magic potion for bearing a child, they change not just their children’s destiny, but also the history of mankind. Born of this mix up is Vishwamitra, the son of a Kshatriya, who strives to become a Brahmarishi—the ultimate and most powerful of all Gurus.

Vishwamitra is the powerful story of a brave but stubborn, haughty yet compassionate, visionary king of Aryavarta who not only acquires material wealth through military conquests but also becomes one of the most well-known sages of all times.

‘The Legend of Parshu-Raam’

He was the guru of Bhishma Pitamah…

An avatar of Vishnu but a disciple of Shiva…

And he shall be the martial guru of Kalki, the last Avatar in this Yuga!

When the Chandravanshi emperor Arjun begins expanding his empire to cover the entire world, the Asuras hit back with an insidious plan. Caught in the crossfire is Raam, the son of rishi Yamdagni and scion of the Bhargava clan.

Will the machinations of Asura, Naga and Urag tribes affect the Brahmin boy and his family? Will the political intrigues of Nabhi-varsh let Bhargava Raam find his destiny or push him towards a future he never envisioned?

This is the story of a man who rose to the level of divinity to establish a fair and just society; the story of the making of a legend.

And the soon to be released ‘Bharat – the Man who built a Nation’

The kingdoms of Nabhi-varsh lie scattered in the wake of Parshu-Raam's assault on corrupt Kshatriyas. While evil has been wiped out from the land, the important task of nation-building remains. In the forest of Naimish-Aranya, the stunned king of Hastinapur watches a young boy play with lion cubs. Who is this fearless child? How does his destiny entwine with that of this ancient kingdom? Will he be able to bring order to the nation and defend it against the invaders lining up at its borders? Reimagined brilliantly, this novel tells the story of the son of Dushyant and Shakuntala, the grandson of Brahmarishi Vishwamitra, the man who changed the destiny of our country and gave it a brand new name-Bharat! Praise for the Legend of Parshu-Raam!
