#BookReview :: The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman - #Poetry #Audiobook @librofm

People around the world waited for the US Presidential election results last year. Whether American or not, we all know how we could get drawn into the drama that was 45! I did not watch the Presidential Inauguration for Joe Biden, but I did hear about Amanda Gorman's performance. So, when this book came up on Libro.fm's ALC list, I grabbed it.

It is relevant.
It is heart breaking.
It is heart touching.
It is inspiring.

It doesn't matter which part of the world you come from or what strata of the society you belong to, there is something for you to take away from it. It was meant to urge America into a new beginning, but it can be for each one of us - to learn from our past for a better future. Yes, it sounds cliched… But stop and think, have we REALLY learnt anything from our histories? We are still divided, still fighting and still oppressing. So, yeas, there is still a lot for us to learn.

Here are two excerpts that I am going to carry forth in my own life from this poem:

"And the norms and notions of what 'just is'
Isn't always justice."

"There is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it.
If only we're brave enough to be it."
