Asmani stared hard into the silver orb in front of her. Her room was dark and moist, the only source of light around being the glowing red tips of incense sticks at a corner of the room, and the faint, yet soothing light emitted by the orb. Asmani was trying to study the patterns inside the orb.
Slowly, the lines and the shadows inside the orb took the shape of a face – the face of a very beautiful woman. Her face was serene, her eyes were deep. It seemed as if she had been through intense pain
in her life, and yet there was an air of calm and tranquillity in her appearance. The woman started speaking to Asmani. Her voice seemed to be coming from far away, but Asmani could clearly hear
her in her head.
“Tell me, my dear, what do you want to know?”
“Mother, can we ever find love in this life?”
The woman laughed. However, her eyes were tinged with sorrow soon.
“I know the kind of love you have on your mind! Yes, my dear, you will find love. Not once, but twice over. While you will find love in a man who will take care of you in this life, he will not be your soulmate.”
“Soulmate? I have a soulmate?”
“Yes, you do have a soulmate. We all have our soulmates. Sometimes, we are lucky to meet them, and sometimes fate keeps us away from each other. Sometimes, we are lucky to have his love in this
life, and sometimes, we need to wait until eternity to realize his love.”
“Will I meet my soulmate in this life?”
“Yes, my dear, you will meet your soulmate. But his love for you will be unspoken in this life. In another life, in a distant future, in a land far away from here, you will find his love. It will be your last birth
as a member of the Order of the Moon – your last birth as a woman with magical powers. You will find true love and happiness in that life. You will find immense love in your soulmate.”
“How will I recognize him?”
“You will know when he comes knocking at your door. He will make his presence felt in the deepest corners of your soul. You will know when he comes…your eternal soulmate…your Chirasakha!”
“When will I meet him, mother? When will I meet him?”
The mysterious woman laughed again.
“You will meet him sooner than you think!”
Slowly, the patterns inside the orb started changing. The woman's face disappeared and was replaced with a thick white fog. However, her soft, playful laughter continued to reverberate in the small, dark room. Asmani felt beads of sweat appear on her forehead. She wanted the woman to stay – she wanted her to tell her more about this mysterious soulmate! She clutched the orb in her hands and stared hard again. However, the woman was gone. The only things that Asmani managed to see inside were clouds of dense fog.
Suddenly, there were three loud knocks at her door. A gush of air blew into the room, and Asmani felt goosebumps all over her body. The silver orb stopped radiating the faint light, and the incense sticks flickered in the dark.
He has come!
Asmani smiled and whispered to herself, “Chirasakha!
